One of the most decorated offensive linemen to wear a Boston College uniform in recent years, Beekman established himself as one of the most explosive drive blockers in the collegiate ranks. Many experts felt that the Eagles would need a few years to rebuild their front wall after Jeremy Trueblood and Patrick Ross graduated after the 2005 season. But Beekman led a unit that provided solid protection for a backfield that averaged 354.15 yards per game in 2006, the second-best figure among Atlantic Coast Conference teams.

Beekman was an All-American selection by Prep Star and an All-Northeast choice by Super Prep as a senior at Amsterdam High School. He was named Albany Times-Union Co-Player of the Year as a senior offensive lineman, becoming the first-ever four-time member of the Albany Times-Union All-Area team.

Beekman registered 98 tackles, three sacks and one fumble recovery on defense during his senior season. The two-way lineman led the Rugged Rams to an 11-1 record in 2001 and the team advanced to the state Class A semifinal round. Beekman was also a four-year member of Amsterdam's track and field team, competing in the shot put.

The talented lineman enrolled at Boston College in 2002, spending the season as a redshirt competing on the scout team. He was the team's top offensive line reserve in 2003, starting at left guard against Ball State and Virginia Tech.

In 2004, Beekman took over at right guard, starting 12 games. The front wall allowed only 23 quarterback sacks, as the offense averaged 385.4 yards per game.

He was a second-team All-ACC pick in 2005, starting all 12 games at right guard. He graded out at 84.7 percent in blocking consistency, and was part of an offensive line that allowed just 15 sacks on the season.

Beekman stepped his game up another notch as a senior, earning first-team All-American honors. He started nine games at guard and three at center, and was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America second team.

Beekman started 39 career games for the Eagles.
